Lego and Epic Games are teaming up to create a kid-friendly metaverse. The partnership's mission is to create immersive digital environment for children. This environment will be safe and fun for children.
Currently, both Epic Games and Lego have not revealed details about their upcoming metaverse. But they have published three principles to guide them in building a secure digital space.
First, they will always prioritize the safety and well-being of children. Also, their privacy will be best taken care of. Finally, both children and adults will have the tools to take control of their digital experience.
Tim Sweeney, CEO and founder of Epic, said, “For more than a century, the Lego Group has captured the imaginations of children and adults through creative play. We are pleased to collaborate to create a fun, engaging and family-friendly space on Metaverse."
“Children enjoy playing in the digital and physical worlds and move seamlessly between the two. We believe there is great potential for them to develop lifelong skills such as creativity. But we have a responsibility to make them safe, inspiring and useful to everyone,” said Niels B Christiansen, CEO of Lego.
For Sweeney, the metaverse is an "online playground." In this way, users can play games and watch Netflix movies together. Epic said it's working on a "family-friendly" digital experience that will "empower young people to be confident creators."
As of writing, there is no information on what this new metastore will look like or when it will launch.
